A positive start to the year

Mr Brett Hartley

The start to the 2021 school year has arguably been the most peaceful and positive since I joined our community in 2015. The professional development week prior to our students returning saw our teachers enthusiastically engage with our theme for the year Christian education and pastoral care. Our teachers were challenged to remember the importance of their own personal holiness and the great impact their speech and actions have on the lives of their students. Our teachers invested time considering how they can meaningfully integrate the Bible and a Christian worldview into a range of topics they are teaching. Teachers worked collaboratively to ensure that they will provide high-quality, targeted care for every student.

And be thankful!

The simple instruction (command!) contained in these three words comes from the Apostle Paul in Colossians 3:15. Let me put them in their context: “Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.  And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.

School Transport

Morning buses – The school invested a considerable amount of time last year to address crowded morning buses. The bus company and transport NSW assessed patronage of the buses and determined that we did not qualify for another bus. However, this assessment took place in the months after the return from remote learning when more parents were driving their children to school. The problem of overcrowding has not been resolved; therefore, Mr Hartley has initiated further meetings to resolve the problem.

Verse of the Month

For Prayer and Praise

“But as for me, I will look to the LORD; I will wait for the God of my salvation; my God will hear me.” Micah 7:7

  • Thank God that He is the God of our salvation, that He is trustworthy and that through Jesus, we know we can approach Him in prayer.
  • Praise God for the summer school holidays and the time of refreshment and rest.
  • Pray for all the new students, staff and families to our school. Pray especially that the new students will be welcomed and will quickly make lasting friendships.
  • Pray for the students who find school difficult, and were experiencing anxiety about the new school year ahead. Pray for peace and a great year for those students.
  • Praise God for the teaching staff, who teach with such great skill. Pray that they will continue to be a Godly example to each other and to the students and families.
