Mr Brett Hartley

Praise God for Shire Christian School parents! Over the last 4 weeks, while working from home, you have set up your children at dining tables, kitchen benches and makeshift desks so that they can continue to learn. While managing your own emotional and social needs, you have counselled an anxious child or sorted out a sibling dispute. Some of you have paused your own work to help a child who is struggling to answer a maths question or understand their English novel. Thank you.

Remote learning announcements and reminders

Mr Peter Richardson

As we come to the end of the first month of remote learning, it’s important we take the opportunity to pause and reflect. These four weeks of teaching and learning have been challenging as I am sure you will all agree. Whether it be the hours in front of the screen to the disruptions of sibling arguments, the patchy internet or even the loud chirping birds or construction work on the zoom call; it is certainly not without challenge!

Learning from Job and others

I don’t know about you, but in these troubled and disconcerting times, I find it helpful to reflect on the story of Job and why it exists in God’s revealed truth in the Scriptures. At a personal level, Job’s circumstances and his taste of God’s providence were much more confronting and perplexing than what we are facing today at a global level. Yet, when I read his story, I see a man whose trust and confidence in his God remained rock solid, even as he grappled with his own ‘natural’ feelings and doubts.
