Have a back-up plan: Pathways to Uni
UAC always recommends that, when you choose your course preferences, you include a 'back-up' course; that is, a course you are confident you'll be offered a place in and will be happy to study if you miss out on offers for your higher preferences. For example, you could include a diploma course in a similar area of study as your preferred degree course. You could then use your diploma studies as a stepping stone to the degree: you may even be able to move straight into second year. Pathways to uni.

UAC Deferring A Uni Course - What you need to do.
How do I defer?
When you receive an offer to enrol in a course, information included with your offer will explain how to apply for deferment. You may have to accept the offer before you can defer.
Most institutions will ask you to provide a statement to explain why you wish to defer and what you'll be doing during this period.
Once your deferment has been granted, you'll receive written confirmation of your deferment from the institution concerned. This will also give instructions on how to take up your deferred course.
If, at the end of the deferment period, you decide you’d like to be considered for other courses, you can complete a new UAC application and include these course preferences. If you receive an offer to one of the new courses, you can then decide whether to accept the offer or take up your deferred course.
Can my offer lapse?
Yes. If you undertake degree studies or certain levels of TAFE study other than NSW HSC courses during your deferment period, your offer at many institutions will lapse. You'll need to re-apply through UAC and declare all of your studies. Check with each institution for specific policies.

University of Sydney Academic Excellence Scheme in English and Maths
Recognising achievement by rewarding academic excellence
The Academic Excellence Scheme recognises high performance in English and mathematics by applying adjustment factors to boost your selection rank.
Depending on the course you have applied for and whether you achieved a Band 5 or 6 (or equivalent) in high-level English or mathematics, you can have an adjustment of up to five points added to your ATAR or equivalent IB score, to raise your selection rank for an eligible course.

University of Sydney - ARTiculate social media
Oct 19, 2022 11:30 AM
Teenagers’ use of internet, mobiles and social media has brought about moral panics and collective concerns about the potential harms posed by digital technologies. These panics encompass potential risks ranging from pornography, online predators, sexting, bullying and device addiction.
In this interactive lecture we challenge and critique risk-focused media narratives, noting that media panics have a longer history that precedes the internet. We explore the diverse ways that young people use social media for connection, self-expression, and identity construction, and ask: How can we ensure that young people can make the most of what social media has to offer? What are the various ethical issues that arise in online spaces? What does it mean to be a good digital citizen?

Sydney Actors School Applications now open for 2023
Applications to Sydney Actors School are now open for the January 2023 intake. Australia's premiere acting school has a clear vision; the school is about providing the most personalised, hands-on practical training in acting in the world. Sydney Actors School employs’ industry professionals with real credits. Many institutions will offer “industry professionals” as lecturers, however they have not worked at significant levels in the international film and TV industry. Our lecturers have had major impact in their chosen fields e.g. Philip Quast, Kevin Jackson and Julia Cotton. This is why many of lecturers’ are also the chairs and presidents of the guilds for their industry bodies.
We are very selective across all disciplines. Entry to our accredited programs is by a strict audition and interview process. Our goal is not to fill seats with students and promise the world – we are serious about assisting students to launch their acting careers. This is why we have very limited enrolments and a thorough audition and interview process to gain enrolment into our acting courses
