Mr David Stonestreet

Welcome back to all our students and families as we head into Term 3. I hope that the break afforded you some valuable time with your children. Please keep our Year 12 students in your prayers over the next week as they are currently sitting the HSC Trial Exams, and students in some subjects will soon sit the practical exams of the actual HSC itself (beginning with German on Saturday/tomorrow).

Hope

During our professional learning week, staff were encouraged to reflect on, and think deeply about the hope we have in Christ and how this shapes how we see our students. Our Learning for Life framework has our renewal domain in the centre. We encouraged our staff to consider what difference that makes to our learning framework. If our renewal statements (Hope in Christ, Compassion and Generosity, Humility and Service, Joy and Contentment, Forgiving and Restorative) are central to our framework, then what difference should this make to every aspect of our school community?

Mr Peter Richardson

Welcome back to Term 3! I hope that you and your families had an enjoyable holiday break and found some time to unwind and enjoy each other’s company. I returned at the start of this term from a period of long service leave and especially appreciated the quality time spent with the family without too many distractions. A big thank you to Mrs Kathryn Breen who filled in so capably last term in my position in my absence.

Transformational Christian Education

Mrs Ruth Cooper

Christian schooling is distinctive not only because it is rooted in Scripture but also because its routines and practices are designed to reflect a biblical narrative. Our dedicated Christian teachers, who are themselves shaped by the Bible, are supported by faithful Christian families who partner with us in the education of their children. Christian Education is transformational, impacting the lives of our students.

AI

Rev Bruce Christian

One of the towns Joshua was required to conquer in the process of claiming the Promised Land to which the LORD had brought his Covenant People, Israel, after rescuing them from their captivity in Egypt, was ‘Ai’. In Joshua Chapters 7 & 8 we have the very confronting account of how the conquest of Ai failed on the first attempt because one Israelite, Achan, had ignored God’s clear instructions and had preserved for his own personal benefit items from the spoils of Jericho that should have been ‘devoted to destruction’.

Parent Prayer Meeting – Friday 16 August

We need to pray. There is more to pray about than time to pray about it all.

Twice a term (Week 3 and Week 7), parents, grandparents, anyone interested in joining, are invited to come and pray together.

Our next meeting is on Friday at 8am (16 August). Younger children are welcome, coffee is provided. We finish promptly at 8:30am.

God is good. He longs to hear our prayers. Let’s make it a bigger group this year.

Whether you say a prayer, or just feel comfortable saying, “Amen”, at the end, please come and join us.

"Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”  1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Book Week Book Drive for Brewarrina – Week 4

As a recognition of our connections with the Brewarrina community through our Year 10 GAW, we're extending an act of service to bless this community by running a Book Drive, so our Year 10's can take them up to Brewarrina Christian School.

We would ask that families contribute with an offering of a book that they have particularly enjoyed. The school also has a need for the following as a suggestion:

  • Wings of Fire series
  • Alice Miranda 13, 14, 15
  • Tree House series 13, 52, 65, 104, 117, 130, 156, 169
  • ‘Do not let the Pigeon’ Series (Mo Willems)
  • Pig the Pug books (Aaron Blabey)
  • Andy Lee’s picture books
  • Our Australian Girl series (they need to be read in groups of 4)

All books should be new and donated to the front office during Week 4.

Thank you for your encouragement of literacy and your support of this endeavour.

For Prayer and Praise

"For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many." Mark 10:45

  • Praise God that Jesus gave His life as a ransom so that we can be forgiven and saved.
  • Pray for the Year 8 and 10 students as they make their subject choices for next year.
  • Give thanks for the teachers who pour so much time and energy into their lessons and into their students.
  • Continue to pray for the families at school affected by illness or grief.
