Mr David Stonestreet

“The temple was covered with precious stones for beauty. There was no pragmatic reason for the precious stones. They had no utilitarian purpose. God simply wanted beauty in the temple. God is interested in beauty.”

― Francis A. Schaeffer, Art and the Bible

Even though the description is right there in the Word, it wasn’t until I read Francis Schaeffer’s “Art and the Bible” that I realised how beautiful and artistic the design of the Ark of the Covenant was. Our Father is a creative God, an artistic God, a God of beauty and wonder.

The Anxious Generation and Secondary Assemblies

The Anxious Generation

I recently read a thought-provoking book titled The Anxious Generation by Jonathan Haidt. As both an educator and a parent, I found it to be both challenging and, at times, convicting. Haidt argues that the increase in mental illness among young people since the early 2010s can be traced back to two key factors: the decline of play-based childhood and the rise of phone-based childhood. He explains how smartphones and social media have drastically altered adolescents' social lives, leading to heightened levels of anxiety and depression.

The Gritty Part of Integrity

Rev Bruce Christian

Have you noticed that it is becoming less ‘fashionable’ to be a Christian? In my youth, the word ‘Christian’ was often used as an adjective to describe someone who was ‘good’ and could be trusted. I remember when I was in Year 7 I was punished for talking too much in class; the punishment consisted of having to write out 500 times, “I must cultivate a more Christian attitude”. We find ourselves in a vastly different culture today, where to profess being a Christian - or to go to a Christian School - is more likely to attract scorn and opposition. Perhaps this is a good thing, because it means that Jesus is making an impact rather being politely ignored.

Weather forecast in SEQTA shows when summer uniform is permitted (Terms 2 and 3)

To make it easy for students and parents, on the home screen of SEQTA a weather forecast for the following day indicates whether summer uniform is permitted.

Warmer days with a forecast of 26 degrees and above permit students to wear summer uniform.

Families no longer need to rely on changing forecasts and varying sources, and must check the SEQTA forecast (sourced from the Bureau of Meteorology) before wearing the optional alternate uniform. The forecast updates at 3pm daily meaning it can be checked after school for the following day.

We hope this tool will help remove any ambiguity, making things simpler for students, teachers and parents.

For prayer and praise

Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one. You shall love he LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.  Deuteronomy 6:4-6
  • Pray that we will love the LORD our God with all our heart, soul, and might.
  • Pray that we will have wisdom as we teach our children when we sit, walk, lie down and rise.
  • Give thanks for the teachers at our school who strive to live godly examples as they teach the students.
  • Give thanks for the Expression evening this week; for the gifts and hard work of students.
