Student Leadership Team 2024/25

Each year, I have the privilege of working closely with the Year 12 Student Leadership Team, which is truly one of the greatest joys of my role. Over the past 12 months, I have been thoroughly impressed and encouraged by the current Year 12 leaders. Time and time again, they have demonstrated a willingness to serve and contribute in meaningful ways to our school culture here at Shire Christian School. It has been a blessing to see these students step up and lead with willing, servant hearts.

Learning Together - Digital Technology

In today's digital world, technology and social media are deeply woven into the fabric of our children’s lives. While these tools offer great opportunities for learning and connection, they also come with significant challenges, especially when it comes to mental health. Studies have shown that excessive use of social media can lead to anxiety, depression, and other mental health issues in young people. The online world can often become a place of comparison, distraction, and pressure, impacting their emotional and spiritual well-being.

Father's Day and Emulating

Mrs Ruth Cooper

What a privilege to celebrate our Father and father-figures in our lives, through our first ever 'Donuts for Dads' morning on Monday. The morning was filled with heart-warming memories, some hilarious dad jokes, a beautiful song of praise, and moving prayers that lifted up our fathers and inspired the young men growing up among us. In today’s fast-paced world, it was wonderful to see so many families take the time to share this moment with their children. Many stayed for a photo and of course a coffee and a donut with some other dads.

Parent Prayer Meeting – Friday 13 September

We need to pray. There is more to pray about than time to pray about it all.

Twice a term (Week 3 and Week 7), parents, grandparents, anyone interested in joining, are invited to come and pray together.

Our next meeting is on Friday at 8am (13 September). Younger children are welcome, coffee is provided. We finish promptly at 8:30am.

God is good. He longs to hear our prayers. Let’s make it a bigger group this year.

Whether you say a prayer, or just feel comfortable saying, “Amen”, at the end, please come and join us.

"Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”  1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

MAF Fundraiser – Week 7

This term Knox House hopes to raise support for MAF, Missionary Aviation Fellowship. They are a Christian organisation that gives hope to people who have little – believing everyone deserves hope.

How you can help:

Junior School

Junior School students are encouraged to fill a small money box with loose change to donate to this worthy cause. We will also be doing some fun classroom activities based on the work of MAF, including a paper aeroplane competition. The money boxes need to be returned to school on Monday 9 September.

Secondary School

On Tuesday 10 September, Knox house will be holding a pop-up shop at recess time.

Weather forecast in SEQTA shows when summer uniform is permitted (Terms 2 and 3)

To make it easy for students and parents, on the home screen of SEQTA a weather forecast for the following day indicates whether summer uniform is permitted.

Warmer days with a forecast of 26 degrees and above permit students to wear summer uniform.

Families no longer need to rely on changing forecasts and varying sources, and must check the SEQTA forecast (sourced from the Bureau of Meteorology) before wearing the optional alternate uniform. The forecast updates at 3pm daily meaning it can be checked after school for the following day.

We hope this tool will help remove any ambiguity, making things simpler for students, teachers and parents.
