Shire Hero Image

Mr David Stonestreet

Good afternoon, everyone, from a very wet Barden Ridge. I hope you are all keeping safe and your houses and venues are holding up against the relentless rain. We think at this time of regions of NSW severely affected by the weather and the many schools dealing with closures from flooding and storm damage.

Sports Field and Carpark Project

Construction of the new sports field and car park, originally set to begin in Term 2, has been delayed due to conditions related to the adjacent Sydney Water easement. The school's Building Committee, architects, and project manager are actively working to address these issues and finalise the tender process. Construction is now expected to commence during the July school holiday break. While we would prefer to build more learning facilities before a carpark, more onsite parking spaces are a requirement to get approval for any future building developments, and so this project is a necessary first step as we develop a masterplan for the whole site.

Even the smallest light can brighten a dark room – a single candle, though small, brings warmth and clarity to its surroundings. This simple yet powerful image reminds us that even our smallest acts of kindness and gratitude can have a far-reaching impact. They have the potential to uplift others, reflect God’s love, and inspire more kindness in return.

Rain doesn't dampen the spirit of Primary Athletics Carnival

It was another soggy Friday morning as preparations began for our Athletics Carnival. With shot put, discus, and high jump areas waterlogged, the track slick, and the long jump pit a muddy mess, things weren’t looking promising. But in the distance, a hint of sunshine teased through the clouds.

As students began to arrive, so too did heavier rain but just as we were about to begin, the skies cleared. Right on cue, the house chants rang out across the track, bringing energy and enthusiasm and allowing the track just enough time to dry for competition to begin.

Forgiveness

Rev Bruce Christian

In their daily devotional book, ‘The Way of Wisdom’, Tim & Kathy Keller are presently dealing with the verses in the Book of Proverbs, and other ‘Wisdom’ literature in the Scriptures, in relation to the Seven Deadly Sins, and specifically since May 9 with the sin of Pride. I found the devotional for last Tuesday (May 20) particularly appropriate for us as we interact with our surrounding culture today; so I will let it speak for itself as our ‘Barnabas’ for this week.

We are looking for 14 school families to host two students each during this period. Hosting international guests offers a rewarding cultural exchange experience and is often a highlight for both students and families involved.

For prayer and praise

“Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength. Even youths shall faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength. Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; but they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall all and not faint.” Isaiah 40:28-31.
  • Thank God that He is everlasting, powerful, strength giving, loving and full of wisdom.
  • Pray that we will wait for the LORD, even when tired, or weary, and that God would continue to give us strength for each day.
  • Praise God for the many talented students who have recently been involved in sporting games and co-curricular activities.
  • Pray for the Learning Support Staff as they continue to help students with learning or behavioural challenges.
  • Pray for safety for staff, families and students as they travel to and from school and school excursions.
  • Continue to pray for the Year 12 students as they learn and prepare for their HSC exams later this year.
