I am happy to report a strong and successful start to the year at Shire, despite the uncertainty during January about schooling in 2022.
Already in these first two weeks we have completed both primary and secondary swimming carnivals, Years 7 and 10 were given their new laptops, our drama students have attended a performance of Hamilton, our seniors have engaged in a seminar for managing stress in the HSC and students have honed their skills at a debating workshop. You can read more about some of these events in the rest of the newsletter.
At our staff development week in January, staff were encouraged that in uncertain times, they could trust in the certainty of God. Romans 8 tells us that nothing can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord, and I encourage you all to meditate on those words from the Bible as an anchor for the disruption often around us.
Thank you for continuing your relationship with our school community in 2022 – we greatly value all our parents, students and staff that make this place so special. I hope and pray that in 46th year of the school (and can you believe my 31st!) we will grow stronger together in that vital partnership between parents and teachers, as we seek for our students to love learning, and love Jesus.
I am both excited and humbled to be able to serve you and your family as Acting Principal for the opening of a new year.
Mr David Stonestreet
Acting Principal
