In what was a momentous occasion and victory for our school, the open boys football team came away winners in their round 2 NSW CIS knockout cup match against the might of Barker College this week.
The team travelled to Barker College on Tuesday afternoon for their match up in the competition after winning against Shellharbour Anglican in round 1.
The boys fought valiantly throughout the match and defended desperately as a unit. They displayed immense courage and intensity throughout the match to hold out Barker 0-0, eventually taking the game to the dreaded penalty shootout.
On this occasion, our students held their nerve and rose to the occasion in front of the vocal home support, with Luke Rolland in particular pulling off two incredible saves to win the game for the team as we ran out 4-1 winners in the penalty shoutout.
The significance of this win cannot be understated, but even more impressive than this was the team's humility and conduct both on and off the field.
Well done once more to our open boys football team from one very proud and happy coach. Bring on round 3!
Mr Peter Richardson
