Warm and relational community

Mr Brett Hartley

Our school is keen to develop a warm and relational community where we try and foster meaningful partnerships between teachers and parents in the best interests of all of our students. The annual parent engagement evenings, held over the last fortnight, are a practical initiative in this regard. I trust that many of our parents were able to take opportunities to get to know teachers and to hear more about what we are doing in the life of the school.

Tuckshop2u

Sadly, this week I have a disappointing announcement. Our offsite canteen provider, Tuckshop2u, has decided to discontinue its school lunch deliveries due to poor profitability. The owner was very apologetic and thanked our school for being one of their best customers. The service will finish at the end of this term. I am committed to finding a new provider, although I anticipate that this will take a considerable amount of time. I hope that our families will not be unduly inconvenienced.

Pray for SRE

Rev Bruce Christian

I hope it’s OK for me to use this column to put in a plea for earnest prayer for the continuity of SRE in our public schools. It is easy for us in the Shire Christian community to take for granted the privilege that is ours in seeing our children being educated and prepared for life on a foundation that acknowledges God as the source of all things, including the absolute truth that he reveals in his Word, the Bible, and in his Son, the Lord Jesus Christ.

CAL English (Computer Aided Learning)

Some students find Reading fun and they eagerly read a wide range of texts. Others are capable readers who may be disinterested to read daily. Some students may need further repetition and skill focus to achieve competence.

If any of these descriptions apply to your child in Years 1-6, you may like to consider enrolling them in CAL English.

For Prayer and Praise

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”  John 14:6

  • Praise God that through Jesus alone we can know the Father and be part of his family.
  • Pray that as Christians we will hold fast to Jesus’ words and remain in him.
  • Praise God for the teachers at our school who seek to live out their Christian walk as they teach the students.
  • Pray for safety to and from excursions and that the students will be a positive advertisement for our school by their behaviour.
  • Pray for the executive staff at our school, Brett Hartley, David Stonestreet, Greg Smith, Paul Carter & Peter Watters. Pray that as a team they will be like minded and make wise and godly decisions for our school.
