Wisdom in boundaries

Mr Brett Hartley

Recently my wife went to a women's event at church on a Saturday night and I decided to stay at home and watch a Netflix movie. After spending way too long dithering over the countless choices, I decided on a serious, challenging movie about a family that fell apart because of their teenage daughter’s online activities. Fifteen minutes into the movie I was wondering why I hadn't chosen something more innocuous like Selling Houses Australia and soon after I turned the movie off. While I respected the producer’s message of exploring the vulnerability of teenagers online and the consequences for families when their children make poor choices, the images and dialogue had reached a point where I felt as a Christian I could no longer keep watching the movie.

True Blessedness

There is great encouragement for us to be found in the first two Psalms. They form a single unit as can be seen by the fact that the first verse of Psalm 1 and the last verse of Psalm 2 refer to what it means to experience true ‘blessedness’.

For prayer and praise

May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at he coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. The one who calls you is faithful, and he will do it. 1 Thessalonians 5:23-24

  • Pray that God would continue to sanctify his people, until the Lord Jesus returns.
  • Thank God for his faithfulness and salvation.
  • Pray for the students at school as they continue to learn and know more about God, that they would put their trust in Him.
  • Pray that God would give the teachers wisdom as they teach and set an example of Christian living for the students.
  • Give thanks for the administrative staff at school with all the work they do with patience and friendliness.
  • Praise God for the many talents he has given to so many students and pray for them as they represent the school in sporting events, learning events, and excursions.
