'New hall' opened with religious freedom seminar

Mr Brett Hartley

After 6 months of renovations our hall was reopened this week. Several members of our school community have spoken enthusiastically about the work we have done to improve ventilation, heating, access, acoustics and audio-visual. People have remarked that it looks and feels brand-new. I am very thankful to God for this facility, which will stand us in good stead for a variety of uses for many years to come.

Join the forum: Theatre that makes a difference

Last term Year 8 had the opportunity to take part a Forum Workshop that was run by the Year 10 Drama class. Using issues chosen by the students in Year 8 (Academic Pressure, Face to Face Bullying and Social Media/Body Image) the Year 10 groups created some short scenes showing scenarios with increasing pressure placed on a particular person. After viewing the scenes they were run again and Year 8 students were invited to join in the scenes to try to improve the situation.

Two ways to live

The effective evangelistic tool, ‘2 Ways to Live’, draws a person’s attention to the fact that the common sin of which the whole human race is guilty, and the sin that introduced death into God’s perfect Creation, is the sin of wanting to be the ruler of our own lives instead of acknowledging the rightful rule of King Jesus.  We want to wear the crown and sit on the throne, rather than bowing before Jesus, whom God has already declared as King over all.

For prayer and praise

For it was you who created my inward parts; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I will praise you because I have been remarkably and wonderfully made. Your works are wonderful, and I know this very well. Psalm 139: 13-14
  • Praise God for life and His knitting together of each one of us.
  • Thank God for school holidays, and the time of refreshment for staff and students.
  • Pray for any students with additional learning or emotional needs or anxieties.
  • Pray for the future freedoms of our school and for any potential changes in laws of our land that will directly effect education and churches.
  • Pray for the Year 12 students as they sit their trial HSC exams.

Work Experience Review

Q. When is a Year 10 student not a year 10 student?

A. When they are on WORK EXPERIENCE!

Yes, our Year 10 students have taken the opportunity to transform - for a week, at least - into all manner of workers. It’s quite possible that you may have seen a familiar face around the law offices in the Sydney CBD, at the car yard at Peter Warren Ford, in the physiotherapy department of a major hospital, installing shopfront or vehicle signage, supervising children at a childcare centre or primary school, shadowing a private Occupational Therapy clinician, assisting in a top Sydney international recording studio or covering a story, camera in hand, for The Leader newspaper.
