Building community and active learning

Mr Brett Hartley

One of the joys of being a principal is having the opportunity to mix with students in the playground, chat to parents while I am on morning bus duty and visit classrooms. Over the last week and a half I have gained a real sense of warm community and active learning in the life of the school, whether that be the kindergarten girl who grabbed my leg to say hello, kicking a soccer ball (badly) with some secondary school boys, mixing with parents at the Year 7 laptop launch night or visiting a class and seeing lots of focused students.

Mr Paul Carter

On behalf of the Junior School Staff, welcome to the new school year! It has been wonderful to welcome many new families and students joining us this year across all our Prep to Year 6 classes. We have had a fantastic start to the year with many children settling into school quickly, building friendships and beginning their learning.

School facility developments

While you would normally expect a school to be quiet over the Christmas holiday period, this was far from the case at Shire Christian this year. A team of builders, carpenters, electricians and alike, with the support of the school maintenance team, was hard at work to complete a number of renovation projects in time for students to return in January.

There has been an overwhelming response to the dance classes starting this term at Shire Christian. All three classes sold out quite quickly. Due to new room availabilities, we are now able to offer a few extra places in both the year 3-5 and year 6-9 classes.

God’s Sovereign Grace at Work at School

Rev Bruce Christian

It was a real pleasure and privilege to be able to share devotions with the staff during staff week as we begin this new school year.  Until I joined in this activity, I hadn’t realised just how emotionally attached I still am to the life of our school, even two years after ‘retiring’ as Chaplain. God is obviously still powerfully at work among us, giving strength and direction and grace for the task he has entrusted to our wonderful, godly staff.

For Prayer and Praise

“Know that the LORD, he is God! It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.” Psalm 100:3
  • Praise God for life, for his creation, for the opportunity to be a part of his family through his son, Jesus Christ.
  • Praise God for the new school year.
  • Pray for all the new students, families and teachers in the school.
  • Pray for kind, encouraging friendships in the playground, conscientious learning in the classrooms, courteous behaviour on transport to and from school.
  • Give thanks for God’s word and pray that as a school community we would all humbly learn from it daily.
