The eternal gift for mankind

Mr David Stonestreet

And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Saviour has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.” Luke 2:8-12

Whom Will You Believe? CJ or JC?

In 1956, I debated alongside the late Clive James in the Sydney Technical High School Senior Debating Team. Following the recent death of this high-profile philosopher, the front page of the Sydney Morning Herald on 29 November, 2019, had a photo of him, and, in large, bold letters, this quote of his: “Stop worrying, nobody gets out of this world alive.” Just seeing this quote being chosen by the SMH editor as a brief summary of my ex-schoolmate’s ‘philosophy of life’ stirred up my heart-strings.

Instrument Hire

Deciding to learn an instrument can sometimes be quite a large commitment. Depending on the instrument, it can be over $1000 for a beginner instrument. If no one in the family already plays the instrument it can be quite daunting trying to decide which one to buy. And similarly with school shoes, children can quickly outgrow the size of their instrument!

For prayer and praise

Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners…”. 1 Timothy 1:15

  • Praise God that Christ Jesus was able to save sinners through his death on the cross.
  • Praise God for the school year - for the teachers, staff, students, the friendships, the lessons learned, the way the students have grown, and the experiences they’ve had this year.
  • Pray for refreshment and safety over the school holidays.
  • Pray for those in our state affected by bushfire and pray for rain.
  • Pray that this Christmas we will remember who Jesus is, and why he came into the world.
  • Pray for local churches as they seek to share the good news of Jesus Christ with others.
