Before I was married I decided to hop on a plane and move to South America. I'd never been there before, I didn't know anyone and I couldn't speak Spanish. My goal was simple and possibly even naive – to teach Economics in an international school and contribute to the work of a local church.

Data, Assessment and Reporting

Since returning to school in the fifth week of this term, our teachers have been collecting data to inform them of how their students are progressing in their learning. Parents who attended the Engage Evening at the beginning of the year may remember some of the ways that our teachers analyse data to address student needs and develop targeted programs.

Learning from Job and others

I don’t know about you, but in these troubled and disconcerting times, I find it helpful to reflect on the story of Job and why it exists in God’s revealed truth in the Scriptures. At a personal level, Job’s circumstances and his taste of God’s providence were much more confronting and perplexing than what we are facing today at a global level. Yet, when I read his story, I see a man whose trust and confidence in his God remained rock solid, even as he grappled with his own ‘natural’ feelings and doubts.

Operation Christmas Child continues with Krispy Kreme fundraiser

COVID-19 may be affecting many things around the world, but it isn’t stopping Shire Christian School from participating in and promoting the Samaritan Purse program: Operation Christmas Child. This program delivers gift-filled shoeboxes to those children experiencing great need whilst also delivering the good news of Jesus.
