Reflecting on 2020

Mr Brett Hartley

We have a great deal to celebrate and thank God for as we finish the school year. Our 2020 Yearbook, which has been distributed today, is full of wonderful colour images and interesting stories about student achievement, student experiences and rich learning, all of which has been based on a firm foundation of Christian education and a community that feels like family.

Year 6 Camp

Last week Year 6 travelled to Cobbity to Teen Ranch for a three day camp. They participated in many challenging and fun activities such as the giant swing, orienteering, horse riding, canoeing and archery. There were Christian Discovery sessions that encouraged the children to reflect on their relationship with Jesus and one another. The weather was beautiful and the children’s behaviour and engagement at camp was outstanding. I commend the Year 6 students for this and for how they have grown and matured during this year particularly.

A sure hope, with NO disillusionment!

I was intrigued when I read Leunig’s cartoon poem in the Sydney Morning Herald ‘Spectrum’ magazine a couple of weeks ago; but I was especially sad when I got to the last line!

For Prayer and Praise

This saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance: “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners.” 1 Timothy 1:15
  • Thank God for His kindness in sending Christ Jesus to save sinners.
  • Praise God for the opportunity at Christmas time to stop and think about God’s incredible love for the world.
  • Praise God for all the lessons that have been learnt at school, the friendships formed between students, staff and families, and for the many answered prayers in our school community this year.
  • Pray for safety and rest over the school summer holidays.
  • Pray for many opportunities to share the good news of Jesus Christ coming in the world, and pray for our local churches as they seek to share the gospel.
  • Continue to pray for those in our school community who are suffering sickness or loss of a loved one.
  • Pray for all the new students and staff coming to our school next year.

Year 10 students discover life in the workplace

Did you notice a familiar face when you popped in to White Horse Coffee at the Kirrawee Brick Pit Espresso this week? Perhaps you took your hound to the vet and thought, “I think I know that young vet assistant...”  Maybe when the builder’s ute pulled up at Grays Point you saw that young man in the hi-viz and thought, “Do I know you...?”

There’s a very good reason why you might have seen a face you recognise in all sorts of interesting places this week - Year 10 Work Experience 2020!
