Principal's Blog

On behalf of the Directors, it is with both gratitude and sadness, I announce that our Principal Mr David Stonestreet will retire at the end of 2026.

David has been part of the Shire Christian School community for 35 of its 50 years of operation. He is an experienced, devoted and much-loved Christian educator who has served our school faithfully in numerous roles since 1992. Starting as a music teacher, then Head of Music, Creative Arts, Director of Studies, Assistant Principal Teaching and Learning, before his appointment as Principal in 2006 until illness forced him to step down in 2008. David returned in 2009 as Director of ICT, and then Deputy Principal in 2011. David was Acting Principal in December 2021 during the recruitment process and then appointed as Principal in 2022.

For the last 5 years, David led the school through an unprecedented period of activity and change. The development of a new Learning Framework, Strategic Plan and commencement of the first phase of the site masterplan in the sports field and carpark project are just some highlights of his many accomplishments.

There will be an opportunity to celebrate his service to our school community over the coming months. For now, I invite you to join with me in thanking Mr Stonestreet for his faithful service and love for our school as evident by his Christ centered leadership and commitment to the cause of Christian education. David has led an outstanding staff team who partner with parents in pursuit of the schools’ mission: To educate students for a life of learning, service and purpose, to the Glory of God.

As many would attest, a Christian educator never truly retires from His service, it is only the place of work that changes. While saddened to see my brother in Christ leave after a long and distinguished career, I accept that the timing is right for David to begin a new season of service to our Lord, serving in his church, community and as an association member of the school. Knowing David, this will include spending more time at the piano and importantly, with his family, who have supported him throughout his career.

The recruitment process has now begun. Please pray for the Board in the search for a new Principal to carry on the good work at Shire Christian School, under God. An update will be provided in the coming months.

"And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ." (Philippians 1:6 ESV)

Yours faithfully

Mr John Ishak
