Learning takes centre stage: A celebration of The Wizard of Oz production

We are thrilled to share the resounding success of our recent production of "The Wizard of Oz," which showcased the talent and dedication of our students from Years 1 to 12. With over 150 students involved both on stage and behind the scenes, this production was a testament to the collaborative spirit of our school community.

From Drama to Music, Art to Construction, Food Tech to Commerce, students from all areas of our secondary school came together to bring the world of Oz to life. It was wonderful to witness the synergy of creativity and hard work as students poured their hearts into every aspect of the production.

Over the course of nine months, secondary cast members dedicated more than 150 hours to rehearsals, refining their performance via consistent feedback. Meanwhile, the junior cast contributed to their own rehearsals with many others creating stunning displays for the breezeway, adding an extra layer of enchantment to the overall experience.

One special aspect of this production was the leadership shown by a number of our current students and as well as our alumni who came back to provide assistance. From lighting design to choreography to hair and make-up to directing to design, they took charge and provided strong examples for our younger people, demonstrating maturity and professionalism beyond their years.

The success of our alumni evening was a highlight of the performance week. Many former cast members from the original 2014 production graced us with their presence, offering words of encouragement and inspiration to our 2024 cast. It was a beautiful moment of connection between past and present, showcasing the enduring impact of our school's Production Program.

As we reflect on the success of "The Wizard of Oz," we are filled with gratitude to God for the incredible learning journey students, staff and parents have embarked on together. At times like this we remember the blessing it is to come together as a community using our God-given gifts, persevering through trials, supporting one another and sharing in the joy of telling a story. We know the lessons learned along the yellow brick road will continue to resonate for years to come.
