Aleuca Angel (Year 12, 2021) has been awarded a Ramsay Scholarship to study the Bachelor of Arts in Western Civilisation at the University of Wollongong next year. The scholarship is awarded to high-achieving students and is valued at $30,000 per annum for the duration of the degree.
Aleuca, a student at Shire Christian School since Year 9, said she was very excited to accept the scholarship offer.
“I’ve always been passionate about English and looking at those great texts and pulling things out of them. Making change for the better is important to me and I’m very excited about this opportunity,” she said.
“Many of the teachers at Shire Christian, like Dr Watson, pushed me to find my potential. Having that support behind me definitely helped get me here.”
A scholarship was also awarded to Mary Summers (Year 12, 2021), who will study Business at UOW next year. Mary received a Sutherland Shire Principal’s Recommendation Scholarship which provides funding for some of the costs of her degree.
